Learning principles

Rosemount's curriculum is built on an inquiry-based philosophy in which students are encouraged to question, discover and communicate through an interdisciplinary and integrated approach to learning. It is designed to support a developmental, student-centered approach, where teaching for understanding is coupled with a stimulating and varied curriculum. The programs on offer are world class and reflect quality teaching and learning, supported by quality staff. Additionally, all programs are designed to emphasize the development of the whole person. All learning activities are planned to provide meaningful and purposeful outcomes and are constantly monitored and assessed. Teachers use a variety of assessment techniques including testing for knowledge and skills, observations, portfolios of children’s work and analysis of book, project and practical work. Attitude, learning skills, social relationships and effort are considered equally important when looking at the overall development of the child. Detailed descriptive reports are given to parents two times a year and parent/teacher conferences are also held to discuss each child’s social and academic progress.
