Assessment

Admission and language criteria

The assessment day, which takes place within school, is an opportunity for your child to participate in a normal school day with their peers and evaluate their compatibility with the school. They take part in all forms of class activities and are allocated class buddies to show them round at recreation times. Teachers will be consulted throughout the day about how your child is performing and these observations will be used to make judgments, which will be discussed later with the parents. There are no formal entrance tests, however children do need to show a desire to learn; an appropriate level of English for their age and curriculum stage; a willingness to participate in individual, group and class activities; and an ability to participate in the school curriculum. If this is difficult to evaluate, for any reason, on the assessment day, a child may be invited for further assessment days to allow for a fair review to be made.
