Learning principles

The Curriculum used at Ajyal American School is standards-based. The American Common Core Standards are the ones adopted by the school for the teaching and learning of our students in English medium subjects. In order to support and promote Emirati heritage and Islamic culture, Ajyal places an equally strong emphasis on teaching Arabic medium subjects as well: Arabic language, Arabic social studies, and Islamic education. Ajyal American School offer three specialist areas that are woven into the curriculum, providing students with early exposure to the fields of engineering and technology, medicine & health professions and The Arabian Gulf and globalization, in line with the Abu Dhabi 2030 Vision. These Specialisms provide links to real life so that students can see the application and integration of their learning. Specialists from the relevant fields will be invited into the school (specialists in residence) to run student workshops and activities. This will further strengthen the community links with the school and provide students with an insight into potential future career options.
